T’Keara N. Watson

T’Keara N. Watson is an attorney in the Orlando office, working primarily in the employment law department. T’Keara was born and raised in Palatka, Florida. After completing high school, she moved to Orlando to attend the University of Central Florida, earning her B.A. with a major in Political Science, pre-law track, and a minor in Legal Studies. While interning for a local law firm in Palatka in undergrad during the summer, T’Keara’s passion for law grew and her dream of becoming an attorney commenced.

Upon graduating from the University of Central Florida, T’Keara attended Florida Agricultural & Mechanical University College of Law. Throughout law school, she had several opportunities working as a law clerk for personal injury law firms and interning in the Conviction Integrity Unit at the State Attorney’s Office in Orange County. In addition to earning multiple book awards, T’Keara graduated with honors and was in the top 25% of her class.

T'Keara began her legal career as an Assistant State Attorney at the State Attorney’s Office in Orange County, handling third degree felony cases. Since that time, she has had the opportunity to gain extensive litigation experience by working for insurance defense firms, handling first party property matters on behalf of numerous insurance companies. Now at a pivotal moment in her career, T’Keara has eagerly decided to utilize her knowledge and expertise to represent everyday citizens. T’Keara takes pride in having the opportunity to represent clients who have been victims of sexual harassment, FMLA interference and retaliation, race, age, religion, national origin, disability, gender, and pregnancy discrimination and retaliation, and wrongful termination, including workers’ compensation retaliation. T’Keara also represents clients who have been paid improperly by their employers. Specifically, T’Keara handles cases dealing with minimum wage violations, automatic lunch deductions, failure to pay overtime, and tip pool violations under the FLSA and Florida labor laws. T’Keara has obtained favorable settlements for clients in the presuit stage, in the EEOC investigation stage, and in litigation. T’Keara has also successfully negotiated severance packages given as a result of an illegal termination. She works vigorously to defend her clients against their employers when they have been treated unfairly. Currently, T’Keara is admitted to practice in Florida and the U.S. District Courts for the Northern, Middle, and Southern Districts of Florida.

T’Keara enjoys giving back to the community and is also a member of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc. Outside of work, T’Keara finds joy spending time with her husband, son, and loved ones, watching documentaries, exercising, and trying new cuisines.
