Julien W. Maynard

Julien W. Maynard was born in St. Thomas, United States Virgin Islands, and raised in West Palm Beach, Florida. The Center for Pre-law Studies at Palm Beach Lakes Community High School ignited Julien’s passion for the law. He realized it was a perfect fit when attorneys and judges from Orlando, Florida, recognized him as the “Best Attorney” at a state finals Mock Trial Competition. Julien also avidly participated in speech and debate. After competing in several local tournaments, Julien placed fifth in the country at a national debate tournament in Boston, Massachusetts. Later, he was elected the sixty first Governor of the Florida American Legion Boys’ State in Tallahassee, Florida.

Julien graduated from Duke University in Durham, North Carolina, with Bachelor’s degrees in History and Sociology. During his tenure, he became deeply involved in contributing to the progression of his community by serving as a Co-Director for the African & African-American Mentoring Program (AAMP) for two years, Vice President of the Black Student Alliance, and Member At-Large on the University President’s Council on Black Affairs (PCOBA).

Julien earned his law degree cum laude from Florida Agricultural & Mechanical University College of Law (FAMUCOL). While at FAMUCOL, his peers and colleagues elected him to serve as President of the Student Bar Association and President of the Gwendolyn Cherry Chapter of Phi Alpha Delta International Law Fraternity. The Dean of the College of Law appointed Julien to serve as a member on her Student Advisory Committee and COVID-19 Task Force Team. Julien researched for Torts Professor, Jeffrey Brown, tutored Constitutional Law II and Trusts Administration, and booked multiple classes.

Prior to joining the Leach Firm, Julien clerked for Florida’s largest insurance defense firm which is also ranked as one of the Best Law Firms according to US News and World Report. However, Julien prefers to fight for the “the little guy” rather than large companies. He is excited to bring his passion and dedication to the Employment Department at The Leach Firm. Julien is proud represent those who have experienced discrimination, harassment, retaliation, wrongful termination, and/or unpaid wages on the job.

In his free time, Julien enjoys binge-watching multiple series on Netflix, working out, and relaxing with family, friends, and his dog - Simba.
