
Jahaida “J.P.” Pichardo Numa was born and raised in New York City. She attended Franklin Military High School and graduated valedictorian. Prior to completing her undergraduate studies, Mrs. Numa was a U.S. Army Reservist and a medical insurance specialist handling complex appeals against healthcare insurance companies. She obtained her B.A. in Political Science from the University of Central Florida. Mrs. Numa received her Juris Doctor Degree from Florida A&M University College of Law in 2016. While in law school, Mrs. Numa was an editor of the Florida A&M Law Review, LexisNexis representative, held offices in multiple organizations and clerked for a major insurance company. She was a recipient of the Book Award for Federal Civil Procedure, Dean’s List Award, and worked with the Homelessness Advocacy Legal Clinic handling cases in family law and guardian ad litem.
She began her legal career as an Assistant State Attorney for the Ninth Judicial Circuit in Orange and Osceola Counties. In her role as a prosecutor, she gained litigation and trial experience. Prior to joining The Leach Firm P.A., Mrs. Numa spent over 5 years defending insurance companies as a litigation counsel for the third largest property and casualty insurer in the United States as well as other national defense law firms. Due to her experience in the areas of bodily injury and premises liability on the defense side, she has extensive knowledge of some of the tactics used by the insurance companies. Mrs. Numa also holds a Master of Laws LL.M. in Health Law and Compliance from Loyola University Chicago School of Law Beazley Institute for Health Law and Policy. She has researched and authored a panel reviewed thesis titled: The Mental Health Crisis in Adolescents with a focus on laws impacting access to mental healthcare for BIPOC youth.
J.P. is now honored to bring her knowledge and experience to represent those that have been mistreated in matters such as: wrongful termination, discrimination, unpaid wages, medical leave, and whistleblower cases.
Mrs. Numa is a member of the Orange County Bar Association (OCBA), Paul C. Perkins Bar Association, and the Central Florida Association for Women Lawyers (CFAWL). She is admitted to practice in Florida and the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Florida.
J.P. lives in Lake County with her husband and teenage daughter. Their adult son is a musician residing in New York City. She enjoys everything basketball and spending time with her family.
